Some of the current and previous members of the Hemker group took the trip to University of Maryland College Park to see a lecture by Emeritus Professor William Nix. Professor Nix had a long and established career at Stanford University where he focused on mechanical properties of materials from thin films to lithium ion batteries. He also happens to be Professor Hemker’s Ph.D. advisor! Professor Nix and the current Hemker students had a great time discussing their shared academic family tree!
